Let’s make Pork Kimchi Fried Rice!
I spent most of 2022 attending Korean language and cooking classes at the Korean cultural Centre in Pretoria, South Africa. Although my Korean language skills have not improved at the pace I would like (I should practice regularly), I have become more confident when it comes to cooking Korean food the way my teacher taught me while taking some liberties.
This confidence was in full force today when I decided to make Pork Kimchi Fried Rice with the ingredients I had at my disposal.
So these were my main ingredients. I didn’t have Gochujang (the tub I had didn’t have enough left), so I added some homemade chili at some point during the cooking process for some kick. I also didn’t have regular soy sauce, so I used dark soy sauce. I really took some liberties when making this meal. I will not lie; I am now motivated to invest in a rice cooker.
You are probably wondering how I made the meal at this stage, and I have you covered! I filmed the whole process for you to watch here:
If you want to learn more about Korean food and how to make some of your favourite meals, you can join one of the Korean Cultural centre classes as I did! They happen every month. Don’t say we never put you on!
