From playing a North Korean spy to being your Heavenly Idol. This is Kim Min Gue!

You have seen him in some of your favourite 2022 K-dramas, from Snowdrop to Business proposal. Now you get to know your favourite dimpled actor a bit more with this interview.

From “Who are you: School 2015” to “Business Proposal” your career has grown so much. Long-term what do you hope to achieve in your career?

My goal is to become an actor that more and more audiences can relate to when I act.

What is something you wish people knew about you?

I want the audience to recognize the way I am now than to discover more sides of me.

From a North Korean agent to a secretary, you have proven that you are an actor capable of playing many roles, what roles do you really want to play next?

Instead of taking or thinking of a specific role, I rather want to approach the audience with various roles.

Secretary Cha enjoyed hiking. What hobbies or activities do you do to maintain balance in your life?

My hobbies are similar to most people’s, that includes playing games, watching movies or dramas, listening to music etc.

We are blown away by your musical talent, what songs are you currently listening?

To recommend to you 3 songs that I’m listening to these days, it’s ‘Maybe its love’, ‘meant to be’ and ‘don’t stop believin’'.

What steps do you take to fully understand the importance of your character to the story?

Um... I tend to be curious about this specific character’s dialogue, thoughts, daily mood and so on.

Who do you consider to be your acting role model whose career you would like to emulate, and why?

An actor that I want to become like is Jung Hae-In. He is an actor that I admire and respect the most.

When did you realize that acting was a career you wanted to pursue, and did you ever find yourself doubtful of your success in the future?

I never had doubts about my success. Also, I never thought seriously I should be successful in this field. I just tried my best on the tasks given to me.

South African fans never get tired of seeing your dimpled face. Is South Africa on the list of desirable holiday destinations for you?

If I get a long leave, I would love to grab the opportunity to visit South Africa.

What has been the most memorable moment in your career in the past 10-years?

I think it’s the moment when I met my fans. Those moments are so valuable.

You have portrayed many different characters throughout your career. Which character was your favourite to portray and why?

I liked the character ‘Joo Gyeok‑chan’ from the drama called ‘Snow drop’. This was my first villain role that I had ever performed in front of an audience before. It made me have more affection and focus on the character.

In the past, you have sung OST for TV shows and appeared on I Can See Your Voice. Would music have been your next choice if acting didn't pan out?

As I’ve mentioned earlier, instead of chasing after success, I just do my best on the tasks given to me.

You have such a beautiful voice and we have witnessed that by watching your performance on M-Net's “I can see your voice”, would you ever consider starting a music career?

Instead of considering becoming a singer, I would rather participate in the OST of the film I joined.

What should we expect from you in future? Do you see yourself taking more challenging and versatile roles?

I will continue to challenge myself and grow as an actor and approach the audience with various films and characters. I have confidence in it and I believe my fans will support me as well.
