Hey Siri, Play Me K-Drama OSTs To Get Me Through 2022!

Whether it’s an action packed K-drama like Vincenzo or an intimate affair with Nevertheless, you cannot deny the power that OSTs have on had on us, long after the magic has left our screens! I’ve been watching K Dramas for the past 18 months and quite frankly these OSTs got me through the year that was 2021 and the year to come. (Scroll down for the link to my curated playlist)

It’s Okay To Not Be Okay

It's Okay To Not Be Okay Kim Soo-hyun Seo Ye-ji

www.netflix.com

To say I’m obsessed with this OST is an understatement. I find myself playing it EVERYWHERE, at my desk, on the road, in my room wrestling life, it’s so confronting, honest and surprisingly peaceful. This OST perfectly captures the numerous emotions we all had to go through with Moon Gang- Tae (Kim Soo-hyun), Moon Sang- Tae (Oh Jung-Se) and our queen Ko Moon Young (Seo Yea-ji). Honestly I’m not even sure what’s better the script or this OST!

Tracks on repeat:

  1. In Silence - Janet Suhh

  2. Hallelujah - Kim Feel

  3. Breath - Sam Kim

Something In The Rain

www.netflix.com

With the gloomy Jo’burg weather that continues to follow us into the new year, this OST is sure to make you feel warm and fuzzy inside. This 2018 K-drama really had us going “AWWWWW!” as Seo Joon-hee (Jung Hae-in) enchants the discouraged heart of Yoon Jin-ah (Son Ye Jin). Despite the numerous challenges that come with dating a noona, Seo Joon-hee never loses hearts and it makes me think he must have been listening to the soundtrack with us.

Tracks on repeat:

  1. La La La - Rachel Yamagata

  2. Something in the Rain - Rachel Yamagata

Crash Landing on You

Speaking of our darling Son Ye Jin it would be remiss not to mention the smash hit Crash Landing on You (CLOY), where she played Yoon Seri, a South Korean fashion mogul who gets swept away by a tornado into the capable arms of Captain Ri (Hyun Bin). Well it was actually a tree but a girl can dream. A drama of CLOY status has an obligation to its viewers in ensuring it has an unforgettable OST and it did not disappoint! Who could forget that scene where Seri comes running for Captain Ri, as he gets taken away by the North Korean Army. CRY WITH ME AGAIN PLEASE! 😭

Tracks on repeat:

  1. Flower - Yoon Mirae

  2. The Song for My Brother - Nam Hye Seung, Park Sang Hee

  3. Here I Am Again - Yerin Baek

Vincenzo

Vincenzo Netflix Poster Song Joong-ki

www.netflix.com

Who could forget our favourite consigliere, Vincenzo Cassano (Song Joong-ki), and more importantly that extraordinary moment as he leaps off his horse as Solar’s Adrenaline plays in the background. Truly one of the most epic K dramas of 2021 and an OST to match.

Tracks on repeat:

  1. Adrenaline - Solar

  2. I’m Always by Your Side - John Park

  3. Mafia - Kim Min Ji, Park Sejun

Nevertheless

Truly a masterpiece! There are few skips on this OST. It gives me the feeling that each of the art students from this series would have these tracks on their Spotify “most liked” list, especially my good sis Nabi (Han So-hee) who was really going through it with the irresistible Park Jae-on (Song Kang).

Tracks on repeat:

  1. Love Me Like That - Sam Kim

  2. Heavy Heart - RIO

  3. We’re Already - Kimmuseum

  4. Whisper - Jiwoo

  5. New Boots -RIO

I’m looking forward to watching so many more K-Drama so I can update my playlist. If you’d like a link to my playlist here it is:
