Does absolute power corrupt absolutely? ‘The devil Judge’ review

People with power can be diabolical and ''The devil judge'' shows us just that. Money grabbers, greed, power and corruption are what you are in for with this drama.

I will tell you one thing from the onset, what you initially think the drama is about, it’s not about that so go in with an open mind and willingness to be blown away. You will be presented with many plot twists so buckle up.

''The devil judge'' follows the life of Judge Kang Yo Han (Ji Sung) who suffered a tragedy that people think he is responsible for. Things get complicated when Judge Kim Ga On (Park Jin Young) who looks like Judge Kang’s deceased brother comes on board as one of the judges that work under Judge Kang.

I knew I would have a love hate relationship with judge Kang from the opening scene. I loved his ability to make people bend to his will.

I was confused by Kim Ga On most of the time, was he truly that naïve or he was pretending to be that naïve because for a judge he had no business being easily manipulated like that.

Jung Sun Ah (Kim Min Jung) is my girl. She was a villain I couldn’t hate. I always tried to understand her and why she did the things that she did because she can’t be that evil for no reason. Not only did she have power, but she also had my heart.

The moral dilemmas this show brings up will have you questioning a lot of things. You literally watch Kim Ga On unravel on episode 7. How he seems to feel that the system he so believed in has failed him. This episode will leave you shocked, wrecked and gasping for air.

By episode 8 Kim Ga On soon realises that he needs to pick a side. He can’t serve two masters or claim a moral high ground only when it suits him. With every episode something seems to break inside him.

Episodes 13 and 14 will have you weeping uncontrollably. Oh, how I wept! I cried my eyes out as I am a sucker for a good tragedy. Please be warned.

''The devil judge'' is full of suspense and will keep you at the edge of your seat throughout. I mean, that’s how you write a drama! Overall, I would rate this drama 9/10.
