The Rise and Rise of Snowdrop’s Jung Hae-in ❄️
Like many, you probably would have had your first encounter with those soft beautiful brown eyes and sweet charm of Jung Hae-in in the Netflix melodrama Something In The Rain. And if you are anything like me after spending days in the warm embrace of Jung Hae-in’s acting, you would swiftly search every drama your newfound favourite starred in. A search which would have most likely led to the fantasy thriller While you were Sleeping where his character is caught between a love triangle with Lee Jong-suk and Bae Suzy and the romantic drama One Spring Night where Jung Hae-in takes the role of a single dad looking for love.
And as you dug a little deeper, you would have realised that Jung Hae-in starred in arguably the biggest K-Drama since Boys over Flowers, yes, I’m talking about Goblin and that good people is how we find ourselves in a deep and unending 사랑해 “saranghae” with the incredible Jung Haein.
It is said that the true markings of real love is the inevitable realization that just when you think you couldn’t love someone any more, you find yourself falling deeper and deeper in love and that seems to be the case when it comes to Jung Hae-in. Despite the challenges his latest drama Snowdrop has experienced, including two petitions threatening its cancellation, Jung Hae-in’s performance has been nothing short of breath-taking.
As you begin to rack up the hours watching each of his performance, something becomes abundantly clear Jung Hae-in has a knack for playing the underdog. Whether it be a love struck animator overcoming the societal taboo of dating an older woman in Something in the Rain or fighting the stigma of being in juvenile detention in Tune in For Love, his ability to completely disappear into a character and fully convey the emotions of any scene without breathing a word is just one of the million reasons we keep coming back for more.
And more we shall continue to get. Not only has the actor recently starred in Netflix’s military drama D.P, exposing the dark reality enlistees encounter during their military service, but we’ll be seeing more of his spectacular performance with Netflix’s blessing to produce a second season.
However if you found yourself having watched every drama he has starred in since his debut in 2014, including The Three Musketeers, Reply 1988 and Prison Playbook, then don’t fear because he has a plethora of films to keep you engrossed for the next few weeks from Conspiracy: Age of Rebeliion, Start-Up and my personal favourite Tune In For Love. But I warn that anything with a romantic label is likely to trigger every single emotion inside of you, so please I implore you to focus on your breathing or on his eyes 👀 .
The future looks astonishingly bright for Jung Hae-in and I have no doubt that he will continue to wow us with his versatility and depth as we witness the ascent of his star. And like any good love, this is the kind that will inspire you to soar above your own fears and continue to challenge yourself in every way possible. So may your year be as warm and as wholesome as the smile of the irresistible and charming Jung Hae-in.
