“Save earth, Save us.” Dreamcatcher Apocalypse: Save us review

When we talk about “under-rated “ or groups that deserve more recognition, Dreamcatcher should be added on that list, I feel like there’s no girl group in K-pop that radiates that much bad a** energy.

Dreamcatcher has always stood out for me as a girl group, I mean they do Jazz and Rock and it works well for them, it’s like their signature sound which was also prominent in their second album Apocalypse: Save us.

Everytime I listen to Dreamcatcher’s music I feel like I’m starring in my own folklore themed anime series, their sound is that magical and out of this world and I love a fantasy.

Apocalypse is heavily infused with a lot of Rock sounds and a bit of Jazz but it’s the message and the theme behind the name of the album that got me interested, the topic of climate change and our world slowly changing right in front of us, I never thought I’d see a K-pop girl group intersect real time issues with their music and I love them for that.

“#Apocalypse means the end. The earth, our home, is being destroyed and hurt. This album warns the listeners about how it’s being ruined,”

In the Apocalypse album we get to see each member showcase their individual sound by them having solos each, which is different and I like different.

We have a solo from Dami which is a 2000 inspired rock tune called Beauty Full and we also have a Jazz/Blues solo song from Yoohyeon called “For”. All different personalities and sounds in one album.

The concept for Apocalypse is a post Apocalyptic world which goes in hand with the message the group is trying to convey through the project which is the topic of climate change, In the Maison music video the visuals were great and stuck with the post apocalyptic theme, I loved how the outfits and choreography just coordinated with the theme.

My favourite songs on the album are:

·        Locked Inside A Door

·        Maison

·        Starlight (makes me feel like I’m the main character in an anime series)

·        Together

·        Playground ( Gahyeon’s solo)

·        Beautiful ( Dami’s solo)

Dreamcatcher is a group that everyone should get into especially if you’re a person who likes something new and something different, I rate this album a 9/10. Make sure to stream Apocalypse: Save us on all streaming platforms.
